AUSTIN, Texas, July 24, 2009 — The future of Simple Power, a Texas retail electric provider, is shining even brighter now that veteran energy and financial professional Roberta Gulledge has joined the company as controller.
In her new role, Gulledge will oversee key accounting and regulatory functions within Simple Power LP, a privately run company that gives customers the power to choose a smart alternative to mainstream electricity service providers.
"A significant part of my immediate duties with Simple Power is to continue refining the development of our accounting systems, internal controls and banking relationships — all with an eye toward cost-efficiency and future growth," says Gulledge.
Prior to joining Simple Power, Gulledge spent four years developing and implementing financial-reporting processes and internal controls for fast-growing companies in the energy, medical and high-tech industries. The certified public accountant launched her career with The Atlantic Richmond Company (ARCO), where she spent almost 20 years in various accounting and business development roles. Much of her work focused on establishing internal systems for the integrated oil company's joint ventures stateside and in Algeria, Australia, Indonesia and Syria.
CEO David Luppino says Gulledge's solid footing in entrepreneurial terrain will serve the company well as it faces certain growth.

Gulledge earned a master's degree in business administration at The University of Texas at Austin in May 2000. Her bachelor's degree in accounting is from The University of Texas at Arlington.
